Simi Valley Neighborhoods: Sinaloa Lake

A hidden private reservoir with nearly 100 years of Simi Valley history.
Did you know Sinaloa Lake is a private 12-acre reservoir tucked beside Sinaloa Golf Course?
Built for agriculture: The Robertson family constructed an earthen dam between 1925 and 1929 to collect water for irrigating their ranch, orchards and crops.
The story behind the name: Tom and Dorothy Robertson came to Simi Valley from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Their property became known as Sinaloa Ranch, and the lake was also known over the years as Robertson Lake and Sinaloa Reservoir.
Drained and brought back to life: After heavy rains raised concerns about the dam in 1983, the lake was drained. Around 2000, the Sinaloa Lake Owners Association rebuilt the dam, cleared years of overgrowth and allowed runoff from the surrounding hills to refill the lake.
A true neighborhood treasure: The Sinaloa Lake Owners Association dates back to the early 1960s, when the community purchased the lake from a rancher who had used it to irrigate orange groves.
Wildlife & fishing: The freshwater lake is stocked with fish, including crappie and largemouth bass, and provides habitat for local and migrating birds throughout the year.
